When you should start dating is a purely personal decision. The old adage that you should wait at least a year went out with starched underwear. Don't let your relatives, including your own kids, tell you. This decision is yours and yours alone.

As well, the trend of older men preferring younger women seems to be on the rise. Singles clubs, senior citizen centers and churches are some of the places where you might be able to meet someone. Some say grocery stores as well as your own neighborhood. If you have a dog and you walk it regularly, people will stop and pet or say something about the dog. This might be an opportunity to strike up a conversation.

The Internet lists lots of places where you are able to join their group and fill out a resume in order to meet someone. Be careful with these, though, as you need to do a thorough background check before you agree to meet someone.

When you do meet someone and start to become serious, you should discuss money, where to live, combining their children with yours, sex and what their and your expectations are from this union. If you do not feel comfortable discussing these things together, maybe you should reconsider before you get involved with marriage and legalities. Don't be afraid, do your own thing, be yourself, and if it is meant to be, it will be.
