How to Deal with Bereavement

We all know that at some point we will die. You hear people say they are ready to die. People that say that are not necessarily talking about death but that they are a Christian and are ready. You are never ready to let your loved one go, even when you know there is no hope in them recovering. When you see them suffer for a long period of time, it is a relief when they finally go. You know their suffering is over.

Now comes the bereavement period. It is not an easy thing to accept the death of a loved one. It is important to learn to cope with your grief for your own well-being. You must allow a period of time for grieving for your loved one. Some people take a longer period than others. It helps if you have someone that you can talk to about the person that you lost. Talk of their life and the good times that you had together.

If you need a more professional kind of help, you can reach out to religious groups, support groups or a therapist for support. It sometimes helps to know that other people also are going through the same things that you are. If you are still working with the public, get on with your job. It helps to occupy your mind, however, when you are alone you will continue to think about your loss but you have less time to dwell on it. If you are not employed, then do volunteer work, anything to keep you occupied.
